Multicem is a binder consisting of cement and bypass dust, with the main ingredients being cement, burnt lime and other calcined minerals. Multicem is used for the stabilization of clay and other unstable soil masses.

In Norway, the product has been used for this purpose since 2004. Multicem has a favourable environmental profile, and has lower CO2 emissions per tonne compared to similar materials. Multicem comes ready-mixed from the terminal, and can be delivered with 25, 50 and 75% proportion.

Bypass dust is named with a fraction after the product name where the denominator in the fraction indicates the amount of cement. The most commonly used mixture is Multicem 50/50, which then consists of 50% Bypass dust and 50% cement.

Storage

Multicem is a finely ground product that is more reactive than ordinary cement. This indicates that Multicem will hydrate more quickly in a moist environment, and should be stored dry.
