International CCS Conference

Norcem CO2 Capture Project

International CCS Conference in Langesund May 20–21st 2015

On behalf of the cement industry in Europe, Norcem in cooperation with its parent company HeidelbergCement and ECRA, has since May 2013 been conducting the first real carbon capture demonstration project within the cement industry. Four various post-combustion carbon capture technology have been tested on real cement conditions. Gassnova through the Climit program has secured the required project funding.

The capture technologies studied are;

  1. Aker Solution’s 1st generation amine technology
  2. RTI’s 3rd generation solid sorbent technology
  3. Alstom’s 2nd generation calcium looping process
  4. the consortium DNV GL/ NTNU & Yodfat Engineers 3rd generation membrane technology

Major parts of the planned test programs are now completed and results and outcomes from each program are used in a benchmark study, to compare and evaluate full scale perspectives. Conclusions from each test program, including the benchmark study and future deployment of CCS in the cement industry, will be presented at the conference.

The event is scheduled for May 20-21st 2015 (lunch to lunch) at Quality Hotel and Resort Skjærgården in Langesund, Norway (www.badeparken.no). We foresee 150–200 participants from all over Europe and it is envisaged considerably large participation from industry.
The participation fee for the conference is 250 EUR which includes the conference, food and accommodation. Participants must pay for their own travel expenses.

The preliminary program for the CCS Conference is attached.
